Much like with movies my search is never ending, and I am happy to say I have been introduced to a number of cool new holiday horror reads over the last year, so I decided to share a few of them with you here, hopefully they will help inspire a new tradition for you and yours!
As always I will include links for purchase, all of these titles are currently available on Amazon. Some of the titles are at reduced rates for the season so I HIGHLY recommend checking all the links as the pricing will change without notice... Enjoy the holiday tales, and consider stuffing some virtual stockings with a few ebooks perfect for the horror reader in your circle, or even you!

For bad children, a lump of coal from Santa is positively light punishment when Krampus is ready and waiting to beat them with a stick, wrap them in chains, and drag them down to hell—all with St. Nick's encouragement and approval. This Anthology features stories by Lissa Sloan, Jeff Provine, Colleen H Robbins, Scott Farrell, Elizabeth Twist and more...
"Krampusnacht holds within its pages twelve tales of Krampus... ...evil children (and adults) who get their due.. From historic Europe, to the North Pole, to present day American suburbia, these all new stories embark on a revitalization of the Krampus tradition."
I haven't got to read this one yet myself but love the idea of a Holiday Horror Anthology, shorts are a great way to introduce yourself to some new authors without investing a ton of time with a full length story that you may or may not enjoy. This one offers fun way to end a day with oh lets say an Irish Hot Chocolate and a bit of Bloody Xmas Cheer!

If you didn't know yes Dean R Koontz has a Christmas tale that's devilishly fun! In fact hes got two! I haven't read the second but I did own this none for a number of years and am currently trying to remember where it has ran off too! I love this tale of Santa's bad brother, who kidnaps Santa and cause nightmarish havoc! Its a dark, funny, twisted tale that is suitable for kids and adults, and I really hope to find my copy soon because this is perfect for sharing on Christmas even with my little ones!
"Santa's Twin is the hilarious and heartwarming story of two little girls, Charlotte and Emily, who set out to save Santa from his mischievious twin--Bob Claus--who has not only stolen Santa's sleigh, but has stuffed his toy bag with mud pies, cat poop, and broccoli! Plus, he's threatening to turn Donner, Blitzen and the rest of the reindeer into soup! And look at the messhe's leaving under the tree!"

And here we have The sequel to Santa's Twin, although not as strong a statement as the first still a great additional to the holiday reading and a book that can be enjoyed by all generations for years to come!
As a Horror mom I'm always so excited by pieces like this one! They bring the joy band fun of the season and mix it with the genre my family most loves making for a really fun memory making holiday moment that I will and do cherish forever, of course I am also a fan of Koontz and have read MANY of his works over the years so that doesn't hurt either lol!
"The Claus family's bad seed, Bob, is back and dishing out a second helping of holiday havoc and headaches for his twin brother, Santa. Exactly a year has passed since Bob kidnapped Santa and visited Charlotte and Emily in his stead, bearing gifts of mud pies, cat poop, and broccoli. After his defeat at the hands of the two brave sisters, Bob has worked hard to redeem himself in Santa's eyes. Unfortunately Bob's spare time has been spent secretly building a robot Santa Claus..."

While at first glance you may wonder why I have included Cecil and Bubba Meet a Succubus in this holiday list but let me explain... Yes this story marks the beginning of the Cecil and Bubba series it is a special collectors edition that also includes one of the most inventive and fun Christmas horror shorts I've read in years, Cecil & Bubba Meet Santa.
If you've never read Terry M West, you just don't know what you're missing! He is one of the best weaver of tales out there, and Cecil & Bubba are every bit as fun and famous as Tucker & Dale (vs Evil).
I enjoy this Christmas Tale so much it is now part of my families tradition, with a Christmas Eve reading already set, have I mentioned how great and understanding my family is???

This is one I will be reviewing in the future, but wanted to include now because the story is another perfect for the current season. If the cover art is any indicator this one is set to be a creepy cool addition to the holiday collection!
"Santa’s not the only one coming to town...
It has tormented European children for centuries. Now America faces its wrath. Unsuspecting kids vanish as a blizzard crushes New Jersey. All that remains are signs of destruction—and bloody hoof prints stomped in the snow.
Seventeen-year-old Billy Schweitzer awakes on December 5 feeling depressed. Already feuding with his police chief father and golden boy older brother, Billy’s devastated when his dream girl rejects him. When an unrelenting creature infiltrates his town, endangering his family and friends, Billy must overcome his own demons to understand why supposedly innocent high school students have been snatched, and how to rescue them from a famous saint’s ruthless companion—that cannot be stopped."

Santa Christ and the Xmas Miracle is a short co authored by Terry M west and his equally talented wife Regina West. Heres the lowdown on this seasonal tale... "Cleve is a relic hunter scouring the wastelands for rusty gold in the year 2090. Most of civilization has been decimated and Cleve exists hand to mouth, trading with mutants at supply huts to feed himself. Cleve observes a calendar that few acknowledge. Soon, it will be his favorite day: December 25th. This day celebrates the birthday of our savior, Santa Christ. Cleve needs an Xmas miracle. And a gruesome one is heading his way!"
In my opinion you can never go wrong with a tale by this talented duo, and if you act fast you will find this one is being offered FREE for a limited time as a gift to their readers so hurry on over and grab this Xmas goodie up!

Ok so this one isnt really a holiday tale per se but it is a modern twist on a well loved fairy tale and I just couldnt help but include it. Rob E Boley has created a series of these twisted fairy tales with this being the first in a series of (currently) 3.
I love this tale so far, the presentation is beautiful, and the story grabbed me write away. I unlike many currently am well beyond the Zombie craze, but That Risen Snow struck a chord with me immediately. It is the re imagaining of Snow White and its really quite clever!
"...with the Prince’s kiss waking Snow from her cursed slumber. Snow wakes up, but she doesn’t wake up right.
Now a deranged zombie, Snow infects both the Prince and the seven dwarfs’ leader. That leaves the young dwarf Grouchy, who is secretly in love with Snow, to find a cure for her malicious curse. So begins an epic journey that pits the lovesick Grouchy against dwarf-hating human soldiers, Snow’s ever-growing zombie horde, and his own bad temper..."
