Marilyn is best known for her role in the 1974, Tobe Hooper classic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Her role of Sally, the only one to survive the gruesome fateful meeting with Leatherface, solidified her place in horror history as an early embodiment of the strong female heroine. Her portrayal as Sally remains today to be one of my personal favorite performances in horror. She brought a true sense of terror to the role and a blood curdling scream that makes my skin crawl no matter how many times I watch. Marilyn came back to the series two more times with appearances in Texas Chainsaw: The Next Generation, and Texas Chainsaw 3D
Fans can take some solace in the fact that we will have two more opportunities to watch this incredible lady on screen. Keep an eye out for Sacrament, just released in June of 2014 and directed by Shawn Ewert, as well as, In a Madman's World, directed by Josh Vargas. In a Madman's World is listed as currently being in post production on IMDB.
The Horror Nation mourns her passing. We wish to extend our condolences to her family and friends in this difficult time. Marilyn was a class act and embraced her fans at many conventions over the years. We would love to hear from some fans who had the opportunity to meet this fantastic lady, please feel free to share your experience with us and all of the fans in the comments section below...
