Colt is an ex sheriff, who has had 20 yrs behind bars to plan his revenge for the people of Peace, the very people he would have given everything to protect. All of that changed when the towns people turned their backs on him, helping frame him for a murder he didn't commit. Today the tables will turn, Colt is being released and hes got a bone to pick that will leave Peace, Texas in pieces...
Tim offers something thats a bit different in this one than what I have read of him on the past. The characters in this one are more fleshed out and the story had elements of Hang "Em High, The Purge and The Experiment all wrapped in one! The story starts out as an exploitation revenge story but grows into something more, without losing the things we love about the exploitation/splatterpunk genre. We watch as good guys go bad, as weaklings find strenght and how some when faced with their own demise find redemption while others find the devil that has always lurked just below the surface.
Night Of Vengeance has a another change up to offer fans of Tim Millers, generally the story end very abruptly with nothing to tie up at the end due to the sheer carnage of his pages. In Night Of Vengeance we still have all the carnage and the ends do still get tied up nicely but we get to explore some of the characters lives a bit after the fact, and I must say I really enjoyed that in this one! This one definitely has me once again looking forward to what Tim has in store for us next, he continues to entertain as his style matures and evolves, without losing the the elements that have brought him his audience!
I have to say if you haven't read Tim Miller before be aware he is an extreme writer for extreme fans. If you are easily offended, dont like gore, or shy away from sex he is not the author for you, however if you love the old exploitation films, midnight movies and hardcore horror than check out Tim Miller you'll be glad you did! Hes my go to guy for nastiness anymore, a fantastic fun, shameful pleasure!
