Originally Ryan and his crew set out to shoot a six figure budget movie known as The Outsiders. The Outsiders is a project they had spent months on, talking and planning, Unfortunately days before the shoot, as with many indie films, the financing fell through. Instead of being discouraged, and since some of the actors had already flown in to do a movie they decide to do just that. Ryan and Seth wrote the script in a few days and the rest of the staff took care of prepping, talk about multitasking at its finest!
So Proximity starts off very fast paced and never lets up. The opening scene is four guys, hands bound behind them and hoods over their heads, riding in the back of a pickup truck with a couple of guys wielding rifles. They are driving out to a remote forest location and you realize our four guys are in a world of hurt. Soon you learn that all four men have ankle bracelets on and are paired in two's. The pairs must stay in the same Proximity of each other, or they pay the consequence. That is about as far as I am going with the spoilers because I believe you should watch without knowing the outcomes and surprises of what is to come in this eleven minute short. That being said this short is a must see for fans that enjoy heart pumping, on the edge of your seat suspense. Proximity is done in such a way that it look like a well produced movie with a budget. The only problem that I had with this film is when it ended I wanted a lot more!
Don't take my word for it though, watch it right here and then see how he brought the magic to the screen with the Film Riot show The Making of Proximity. This is a project that Ryan and his team are very proud of and rightfully so, I just hope someday he lands that big budget so we can see the true skills behind Ryan and his great team. I hope to see many more projects by this talented group in the future.
