First things first, it’s easy to see that debutant director Leigh Janiak knows how, where and why to point a camera! There’d be no shame in thinking the setup seems rather familiar with the whole ‘isolated cabin in the woods’ scenario, but before we get a chance to think ‘nutter with an axe’, Janiak and Phil Graziadei’s eerie story takes a few twists and turns down several other paths.
A buttock-clenching meeting with local restaurant owner and Bea’s old ‘friend’ Will (and his ill-looking, spaced out wife) kick-starts the weirdness. Soon after, all kinds of whacky shit breaks loose when Paul finds Bea roaming naked in the woods, with no recollection of how/why she’s there and sporting marks on her upper thighs like she’s been accosted.....
